The rumor du jour, perhaps of the last ten minutes, is that unhappy, disillusioned GOP Vice-Presidential candidate Mike Pence might abandon Trump and the ticket, both to save his own reputation, 2020 bona fides and to force Trump off the ticket which might be reconstructed with Pence on top.

Side note. Walker and Pence are pals, in case Pence needs a simpatico Plan B #2. There, I said it.
Anyway - - said irony is that Pence really wanted the #2 spot, given his bad polling numbers in Indiana and self-inflicted anti-gay, anti-Planned Parenthood legislative wounds, and bolted quickly enough to New York City to appear with Trump in July before the convention so that it was impossible for Trump to offer it to someone else.
As they say, be careful of what you wish for…

Sources close to Trump say he grew increasingly frustrated throughout the day with the news reports leaking his choice of the Indiana governor as his running mate. Trump was even faced with questions about Pence by supporters during closed-door fundraisers in California Thursday afternoon, adding to the frustration and leading him to hesitate, sources say. But at that point, Pence was already in New York.
