The 3.30am incident occurred at a traffic light near Evolve Mall, Ara Damansara, when the two men, both aged 26, smashed the passenger side window of the woman’s car and took her laptop bag.
However, things did not end there for the two thieves as their victim chased after them.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the short chase ended painfully for the two men when the woman accidentally crashed into the two.
“A security guard heard her yells and came to help her,” he told reporters at the Serdang police headquarters on Thursday.
Both men, with prior criminal records related to theft, were seriously injured and sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
When asked if police would take any action against the woman for injuring the two, SAC Fadzil said they would look into it but said it was most likely not done on purpose.
“This is not like that one case where we charged a Datuk Seri for shooting a robber after following him after a robbery. There was no threat on life or property in that case,” he said referring to an old case.
