Peter Wyngarde played the character Jason King, a sleuth, in the television series: Department S (1969–70) and Jason King (1971–72).

At that time, Ballard knew Wyngarde as Cyril Goldbert. [10][18]

Wyngarde's father was said to be Henry Goldbert, a Russian-Jew.

Henry Golbert was said to be a spy.

In 1975, Wyngarde was fined £75 for having sex with a man in the toilets of Gloucester bus station.

This followed an arrest and caution for similar activities in the toilets at Kennedy Gardens in Birmingham in 1974.
