The mid-term elections are uniquely important

Four weeks until we'll know if the Republic is lost.

The reprehensible approval of Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court - - along with sickening gloating by the grotesquely distorted Mitch McConnell

who had been scheming today's 'win for a long time - - is reason again to consult the infamous right-wing blueprint laid out almost a half-century ago for the US Chamber of Commerce just before its author, Lewis Powell, himself was elevated to the Supreme Court.

You can read it here.

The far right, with a frightening willingness to manipulate fear and anger in the country and unlimited, self-serving  corporate money to stir it up, are winning at this consequential, long game.

Unless Democrats can hold the House of Representatives, and better promote basic messages on health care, tax fairness and social justice for all, Republican hold on all three branches of the federal government with no check on Trump and all his shady and dangerous impulses will take us back certainly to the late 40's, and even earlier if Paul Ryan's legacy includes the full unwinding of New Deal safety nets and principles.

We often hear that the next election is the most important, but this year, that's the truth.
