Friday music: If you don't love jazz, you hate America

Yes, music posts will still be a thing.  Before the political subtext, there's a changing of the guard in the jazz world.  The Thelonious Monk Institute is being renamed for Herbie Hancock.  Why?  Not clear.  Family... stuff.  I'm a big fan of Monk's compositions, and Hancock's playing.  As a player, Monk had a difficult time finding people who could get on his wavelength, so most of his recordings don't hold as much appeal for me as they should, even though, well, what is there to say about "'Round Midnight?"  Dude could write.  That's just the tip of the iceberg for Monk.  My favorite Monk album is actually Alone in San Francisco, which didn't have anyone getting in his way, unable to find their way around his weirdness.  Herbie?  Love him too, but let's have one for Monk today.  "There's Danger In Your Eyes, Cherie."  This is Take 2, which I think is the superior take.
