The most insightful interview I've seen on Ferguson, Michael Brown, and Black Lives Matter

This is just a quick comment to direct you to an interview you can find over at Slate with John McWhorter about what really happened in Ferguson when Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown.  McWhorter does a regular series there on linguistics, which is quite fun (he is a fellow academic, and a properly-trained linguist), but here, he tackles a truly difficult question.  Given that the DoJ found that the legend of Michael Brown's death was false, how do we grapple with the positive legacy of calling attention to police brutality and racial bias?  Hard question, and McWhorter is a smart guy.  Go.  Read, or listen.

Also, listen to McWhorter's podcasts there.  If you can't tell, I am a linguistics dabbler, and he is always fascinating.
