The GOP leaders controlling the state legislature they have gerrymandered announced opposition to measures expanding gun-buyers' background checks and temporarily removing guns from the possession of a person showing threatening signs of violence or mental instability until a judge assesses the evidence.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, along with Senate Majority leader and current, all-in-for-Trump Congressional candidate Scott Fitzgerald, are linking their opposition Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke's proposal that assault rifle owners be required to turntin their weapons for a mandatory buyback program - - an idea which Evers said he'd think about but give no priority.
That Wisconsin's GOP leaders elevated Evers' at-best tepid reaction to O'Rourke's suggestion tells you that Fitzgerald, and Vos,
are more interested in playing a game of rhetorical distraction for the NRA's benefit, while opposing reasonable measures which would help prevent mass shootings, gun battles with police officers, suicides and other targeted killings in the workplace or home.
