Party youth leader in Sabah arrested for alleged drug abuse

KOTA KINABALU - A local political party youth leader was arrested for alleged drug abuse in Kota Belud.

The youth division leader of a ruling state party (Parti Warisan) was detained near the Kota Belud army camp at about 8pm on Saturday (March 16).

It was learned that prior to the suspect's arrest, he had gone to the restricted military area and was held by army personnel after behaving strangely.

The army personnel then informed the police who arrested him and took him to the Kota Belud police station.

On Sunday (March 17), Sabah Deputy police commissioner Sabah Datuk Mazli Mazlan confirmed the incident that was widely spread on social media.

He said that the suspect was under investigation for drug abuse.

However, he said there was no trouble caused by the suspect at the military area.

Since late Sunday, pictures were being spread on social media with some netizens claiming that the suspect breached the military security area, with some putting up posts which claimed that the suspect marched around the area.
