China has a window of opportunity within the next two years to develop a “grand strategy” to defend itself against new containment policies under the Biden administration, Chinese academics say.
The transition of power in Washington and the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic have given Beijing a chance to plan its next move – and even grab the upper hand – in its relationship with the United States, they said.
But with numerous challenges ahead, China must also improve relations with Japan, Europe and friendly elements in the US, in part by leveraging access to its huge domestic market, the experts added.

WNU editor: It is going to be hard for China to break America's "containment" strategy. For one. China has seriously damaged its relations with most of its neighbors over border disputes. And two .... China's claim that it will open its markets to new friends and allies is being met with justifiable skepticism and disbelief.
This is also not a new U.S. multilateral containment strategy that has been initiated by President Biden. President Trump initiated much of this in the last two years of his administration via through tariffs, joint military exercises with allies in Asia, the establishment of new bases, and selling weapons to Taiwan. President Biden is only continuing it.
