Ron Johnson Says He's Going to Do His Own Investigation of the Capitol Insurrection
- Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson voted Wednesday against forming a bipartisan commission to investigate the origins of the riot by Trump supporters at the US Capitol that disrupted the tallying of electoral votes and forced him and other lawmakers to flee for their lives.
- Johnson, a Trump supporter who favored overturning states' election outcomes, told a right-wing cable channel that he is conducting his own examination.
- “I’m doing my own investigation to really accurately recreate what happened on Jan. 6th," said Johnson. “By and large it was peaceful protests, except for there were a number of people—basically agitators that whipped the crowd and breached the Capitol—and that’s really the truth of what’s happening here."
