Forbes: The Russian Submarine Threat In The Atlantic Is Growing, But A Low-Cost Solution Is Available
Over a hundred years after German U-boats first threatened Britain’s maritime lifelines to North America, submarines continue to pose a danger to the security of Western democracies. The United Kingdom’s defense secretary, Ben Wallace, warned in mid-May that Russian submarines are “circling Britain’s entire coastline,” raising the specter of renewed undersea warfare if NATO finds itself at war with Putin’s Russia. Although Moscow has largely deferred investment in sea power to build up its land forces, it has made an exception for submarines.
