WNU Editor: If the Taliban wants American hostages, they could probably grab a few hundred if not more. They now control the situation with the exception of the airport.
Iran held 52 Americans during the Iran hostage crisis that lasted 444 days. The Taliban now have the power to make that look like a picnic. But I do not think they are going to go that far. It will jeopardize their goal of having countries like China and Pakistan recognizing them as the legitimate rulers of Afghanistan.
