I suppose I'll do a quick "I told you so." I wrote yesterday in my election wrap-up that Sessions was gone, and hours later, Trump fired his ass. In fact, I've been saying at least since this
July 29, 2017 post that Sessions wouldn't last through the term, not that this was a hard prediction. Also, I made fun of Lindsey Graham in that post for what was obviously bullshit-- claiming that he wouldn't let Trump fire Sessions. And now Graham is about the most loyal Trumpkin in the Senate, fully on-board with firing Sessions and anything else Mr. Trump-sir wants!
Sessions will be replaced, at least temporarily, by Matt Whitaker, who thinks that the DoJ can just bury the Mueller report, about which I also warned yesterday. I've been saying for a while that you'll
never read the Mueller report, and Whitaker's appointment demonstrates that. You won't see it. And neither will Congress. Rosenstein gets fired pretty soon, and as for Mueller, they've said they aren't firing him, but Whitaker will try to rein him in, and if that doesn't work... if it looks like anything big is about to happen, Mueller gets fired. The only way Mueller says on the job is if Trump is convinced he's shot his wad in terms of indictments, and all that's left is for Whitaker to bury the report.
It's almost Saturday night. Do you know where your Special Prosecutor is?
